Faith for Healing

In Christianity, healing is one of the gifts that were freely given by the Lord. It is of course given due to the loving nature of God. This means that God as the creator sees the need for His creations (humans) to be strong, hale and hearty despite our many vulnerabilities. Everything needed by the church has been given by the LORD. But no matter how great a gift is, if the receiver is ignorant of the use of the gift, it may not profit the receiver much.

The gifts of God such as healing are like crystal clear diamonds given to someone through inheritance. If that person is ignorant of the value of diamonds and only sees them as glassy stones with various diagonals, then the diamonds will surely be kept somewhere without maximising their full potentials; or they can be likened to someone stuck in an island with no one else around, and he then sees a chopper, but he can’t fly it or get it to work simply because he has no knowledge on how it is being operated. You can see that the chopper is like a gift that surfaces out of nowhere but, there is a limitation on the part of the discoverer. So you can see that healing is like the diamonds or the chopper mentioned above; but there is something else that is needed for the diamonds to show forth its market value, and that is knowledge of the cost of diamonds per piece, size, etc.; while the stuck man needs knowledge of piloting a chopper to be able to free himself from the island where he was stuck.

Therefore, the word Faith is like the necessary skills and knowledge needed to be able to access the healing that God has given us freely. That is why it is written that ‘‘but without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him,’’(Hebrews 11:6, NKJV).
When you believe that God is real, and He is the Most High, you should also believe that He is able to give what you have asked of Him. Not believing is lack of faith to receive the blessings that can be freely given by Him.

Before the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus and the arrival of the Holy Spirit, there was a case of an epileptic boy that was brought to the disciples of Jesus, but they couldn’t heal him. Afterwards, the LORD came, and He healed the boy. The disciples being disappointed with themselves and curious asked the Lord why they couldn’t heal the boy the way He did. Then Jesus answered them that it was because of their unbelief, and that if they had faith like a mustard seed, they would be able to move mountains, (Matthew 17:14-21).

There are several other examples in the scriptures, just like the woman with the issue of blood. She touched Jesus and she was immediately healed; and when Jesus would talk to her after discovering that she touched Him, He said: ‘‘daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction’’ (Mark 5:25-34).

In other words, you must see faith as the key to unlock the blessings of God, and healing is one of the blessings. It is as simple as that. So, for you to get healed or pray for someone to receive healing, connect your faith to God in the fact that He is able to do, and His grace and mercy will wrought wonders.
