“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions,” (Obadiah 17).
The declaration of the scriptures is that all things on earth in their fullness is the Lord’s, together with the inhabitants of the earth, (Psalm 24:1). If this is so, then it means that the Lord is more than rich and wealthy. It doesn’t matter if nations are at each other’s throats fighting for the possession of various mineral resources. Nations may be fighting for resources, yet they are not the provider of these resources.
Everything that men use on earth were met on earth. Men only searched them out to use them, but they had been provided and stored in earth by God even from the beginning. So, it is clear that God, our God the creator of all things is the owner of all things.
And in as much as all these blessings on earth were provided by God for us to use as humans, God isn’t expecting from humans that they should kill one another because of them. One of the expectations of God is that humans should give glory to him for the presence of these precious things and regard him as the all rich God.
However, beyond physical riches which God has provided, there are also other riches which aren’t physical. These category of riches and wealth are exclusively for the children of God, that is, those who have accepted Jesus Christ the Son of God as their Lord and Savior.
And that is why it was written for us as Christians that, we should seek the things that are above where Christ is sitting at the right-hand side of God, (Colossians 3:1-2). The things at the right hand side of God are for children of God and they are spiritual blessings and riches.
They are the promises of God to us his children, and the promises of God to us are yea and amen in Christ, (2 Corinthians 1:20). This means that the promises, blessings and riches of God to us are our possessions.
And these blessings are embedded in salvation, holiness and deliverance according to Obadiah 17 that was quoted above. These are the kinds of blessings that cannot be found anywhere on earth except in the presence of God.
The rest of the world may be fighting for physical blessings which are subject to corruption, but unless they are found in Christ, they cannot partake of the riches of the Lord’s presence. The children of God also have rights to physical blessings, but are also privileged to partake of the table of the Lord their creator (this is double blessing).
Therefore, it is in Mount Zion which is the Lord’s presence, the household of faith and the assembly of the saints of God, and the family of God in heaven and on earth that all blessings can be gotten. It is the rendezvous between God and his people for God to bless his people. This place of the Lord’s presence is where the people of God will possess their possessions (the ones that the Lord has promised them, and the ones that was stolen by the enemy). Everything that belongs to the people of God shall be restored unto them because God is not a man that he should lie, nor a son of man that he should repent, (Numbers 23:19, NKJV).
